 HI- VIZ BE SEEN! Summer is nearly here, but that doesn't mean we can ditch the hi-viz. If the sun is set in a certain position or if it is cloudy and even if you are riding near trees cars cannot see you until they are nearly on top of you! Years ago when I started to ride it wasn't fashionable to wear riding hats, now hopefully non of us would never ride our horses without a hat, hopefully soon this will be the same for hi-viz. I know that some insurance companies now are not paying out if you are involved in a road traffic accident and you have no hi-viz on. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the same with all insurance companies before long. By wearing Hi-Viz we give traffic time to see us and slow down...... we can't moan at cars for not slowing down if they can't see us until they are nearly on top of us. I think Hi-Viz looks really good on horse and rider and it shows that you are a responsible rider. |
no Hi-viz .jpg) I have spoken to many non horsey people and they have told me that sometimes they do not slow down for hores because they do not see them until it is too late and they have to slam their brakes on, which then is a danger for the drivers behind them. They told me that if they see a horse and rider then they do slow down before they get near the horse but if they can't see them then how are they supposed to slow down? Point taken really...... Hopefully by writing this it might save one accident and hopefully bring more of an awareness into wearing Hi-Viz

I have not been on Caddy for a long long time but felt as it was my two horses that gave me the idea for this web site the pictures should be of them where ever possible........Caddy was amazing he was so good although I must admit It did make me a bit tearful because I miss this so much .......... |
