Laminitis is a word that sends fear through all of us horse owners, but it need not result in death. Prevention is vital. Also the earlier it is diagnosed, the horse has a good chance of recovery. A vet must be called if Laminitis is suspected to give the horse a good chance at survival, this will also help towards recovery and you will be able to continue with a long life with your horse. The ILPH is now called World Horse Welfare. They are a charity organisation and do such amazing work for horses all over the world. I know this first hand as a friend and myself contacted them for help with a mare we were concerned about a few years ago and they took her into their care. I know that they would have done everything they could have for her. I would like to say Thank you for all the work that World Horse Welfare does for all horses and all the hard work that they do!

Ragwort is a poisonous plant that can cause serious illness and even death. Have a look at this web site it tells you all about the plant and the damage it can do to your horse. Again this is a death that can be easily prevented by making sure that you do not have ragwort in your field. This link is to Easterton Equestrian where they teach and compete in vaulting. It is amazing the pictures on this site I hadn't seen vaulting before, the riders and horses look amazing! At Easterton they also compete in Dressage. Toad (Hewid Meredith) who was the sire to many Easterton mares was in the Junior  Dressage Team in 1984 and also placed third twice at Olympia. He also carried vaulters at the British Vaulting Championships. Saddly he has passed away but you can see him through the generations of his offspring, Caddy was bred at Easterton Equestrian where he stayed until he was 8 years old. His half brother Grenadier is competing at Dressage and also in Vaulting. When you look at pictures of Caddy and pictures of other horses that have been bred at Easterton they all have that look about them Have a look you will see what I mean. 

Julie and I have been friends since we was at school ( many moons ago lol). Julie has lived in Sweden, Germany, Scotland and now Portugal. When Julie lived in Scotland she bred miniature American horses and also Falabellas. Julie is now an accomplished author and writes children's books, she will be on Portugal prime time T.V in November. I am very proud of Julie and all she has achieved
